Sam Javanrouh. Image Maker.
Sam Javanrouh is a Toronto-based photographer and creative director, currently working as a VFX Supervisor at WeFX, where he contributes to world-class television series and feature films.
His passion for visual storytelling began at a young age, learning the craft from his late father, Azim Javanrouh, a renowned Iranian cinematographer. After moving from Tehran to Toronto in 1999, Sam bought his first digital camera in 2000—and hasn’t looked back since.
He is best known as the creator of the internationally acclaimed and award-winning photoblog [daily dose of imagery], which ran from 2003 to 2013. For a full decade, Sam posted a photo every single day, offering a vivid, intimate, and artistic look at Toronto life. The blog became a beloved destination for locals and photo enthusiasts around the world.
Sam’s photography captures both the beauty and the grit of urban life. Through his lens, everyday city scenes become striking visual stories—turning ordinary corners of Toronto into moments of unexpected wonder.
In 2013, TopPhotoWebsites recognized him as one of the top ten photographers in the world, alongside legends like Joe McNally and Steve McCurry.
His work has been featured in numerous Canadian and international publications, including Spacing Magazine, Toronto Life, Canadian Business Magazine, The Walrus, NOW Magazine, Where Toronto, Toronto Star, CBC, Toronto Hydro, and the City of Toronto, among others.
